Santorini is the most beautiful island of Greece. White picturesque houses have great view to the sea. The most popular towns are Fira and Oia - located far from the best beaches of the island. Hotels [edit]

Santorini has a lot of hotels, including some pretty beachfront options. A traveler with any budget will find something suitable. Minimum rooms' fares start from about US$30 per night, while the most expensive accommodation options are good enough for the royals.

Most tourists obviously prefer beautiful towns located on the coastal mountains. However, in many cases it will be cheaper to stay near the beach, - think about Perissa coastal town.

How to get there [edit]

Santorini island has its own airport (JTR code) serving many flights from all over the Europe, - including few low cost airlines. So the ferry makes sense only in case, if you plan to travel from one of the neighboring islands. In addition Santorini is a popular stopover for large cruise ships.

These is a good bus connection around the island, but it is best to rent a car. Taxi service is reasonably priced in most cases, because the island is small.

When to go [edit]

The best time to travel to Santorini island is a warm summer half of the year. If you are interested in city tours only, try to avoid the period from July to August, as it is hot and a lot of tourists that time.

As for a pure beach holiday, it is better to choose high season from July to September, when sea water is warm enough.
