San Blas is a group of
365 islands on the Caribbean coast of Panama. Native
Kuna Indians live only on few dozen of islands, that usually have basic hotels as well. Most of the islands are uninhabited with beautiful tropical landscapes, where you can imagine yourself to be Robinson Crusoe. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
In San Blas, luxury accommodation is only possible on expensive yachts. As for the hotels, in most cases these are just basic bungalows with a minimum of amenities. However, there are shower and toilet, that is quite enough for an eco-tourism.
Usually you pay about $100 per person per night for a package, that includes a boat from the mainland and back, meals and daily tours to the neighboring islands.
Typically water and lobsters are not for free. If BBQ is reasonably priced (about $15 for lobster), it is better to bring the drinking water with you, as on the islands it costs $2 for a bottle.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Panama City international airport (PTY). Next fly to the island of
El Porvenir, and take a boat to the island you need. Or you may get by 4x4 jeep to the coastal town of
Puertos de Carti, and next take a water taxi (30 minutes per way).
A more luxury transportation options to San Blas are sailboat chartes from the colombian beach resort of
Cartagena. Typically, the cost of travel by yacht is from $300 to $600 per person. We recommend to choose more expensive option with good reviews.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday on San Blas islands in Panama is a dry season from December to April. During the rainy season, there are sunny days as well, but not very often.
