Rowa atoll
Ultimate guide (December 2024)
Rowa (Reef islands) is a small uninhabited atoll in the north of Vanuatu. Such a formation is not typical for Oceania, but looks more like the blessed Maldives. This is a great spot to imagine yourself as Robinson, and to snorkel in the lagoon or on the reef. Two islets have beautiful tropical scenery, while entry into the water is sandy with occasional broken corals. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
There are no hotels on Rowa Islands, so you can spend a night in your own tent only, that is not prohibited. The nearest accommodation options can be found on the neighboring islands of
Mota Lava and
Vanua Lava.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Port Vila international airport (VLI), then fly to
Mota Lava airport (MTV). Next hire a boat from local fisherman, that will take you to the Rowa and back. Total cost for the round trip is about US$150 including entrance fee to the atoll and other unclear taxes. So it makes sense to bargain.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday on Rowa islands in Vanuatu is a dry period from July to October.
