Raa Atoll

Raa Atoll is one of the northern atolls in the Maldives. The beaches are probably not be the best in country, but quite decent - with white sand, palms, clear water and excellent snorkeling. Due to the remote location, there are no crowds of tourists - especially on the local islands. Good news are that transfer fees from Male are almost the same as to the closer atolls. The cost of rooms in 4-5 star resorts starts from as low as US$250 per night. This is a great offer for such luxurious accommodation options.

As for the local islands, the room starts from US$80 per night. This is quite reasonable fare by the Maldivian standards, though not the cheapest one.

How to get there [edit]

Fly to Maldives international airport (MLE). Next get by a seaplane (from US$400 for the round trip), or take a domestic flight to Ifuru (40 min, US$95 per way) or take a public speedboat (4 hours, from US$40 per person per way).

The best time for a beach holiday on the islands of Raa atoll is a dry period from January to April.
