PukaPuka is the westernmost atoll in the Cook Islands. The beaches are rather scenic, but not quite suitable for swimming. Since the lagoon is shallow water, while the outer edge of atoll is mostly rocky. It is best to ask locals for day boat tours. These are mainly lagoon tours, as well as sandbank tours. Which is almost the same :) This isolated place is notable for the local language being more similar to Samoan. However, most of tourists don't know anything about Polynesian dialects. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
There is one guesthouse in Puka Puka atoll. Rooms' fares are about US$100 per night. Conditions are basic, but still decent enough. It is hard to book in advance, since the guesthouse is not presented in Internet. On the other hand, it is still better to make a booking, because the airport and the village are located on two different islands :)
It is worth to ask Air Rarotonga about possible accommodations in Pukapuka. However, even if you don't have a booking, locals will give you a room anyway. Since the entire population of PukaPuka is some kind of a big family. By the way, for the same reason it is not worth to try to stay in your own tent. Since locals will hardly approve this idea.
