Meemu is a remote southern atoll in the Maldives. There are just a few
islands available for the tourists. Unfortunately, the beaches are rather mediocre almost everywhere (with rare exceptions). However, this is the Maldives! Anyway, you will find occasional palms, white sand and interesting snorkeling in clear water. Just don't pay too much for all of this. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Local islands have a limited choice of guesthouses, but there are not many visitors as well. So you will always find a free room starting from as low as US$70 per night.
As for now, there are only two private islands -
Medhufushi Island Resort (5 stars) and
Cinnamon Hakuraa Huraa (4 stars). These are really more like a three star, but fares are cheap by the Maldivian standards (room from US$200-300 per night).
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Maldives international airport (MLE). Next take a seaplane (US$400-500 for the round trip). Discounts for children are applied. The flight time is 40-45 minutes per way.
It is also possible to get to inhabited islands by a public speedboat. It takes 3-4 hours per way (from US$50 per person).
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in the islands of Meemu atoll (Mulaku) is a dry period from January to April.
