Maupiti atoll

Maupiti is an atoll in French Polynesia being a smaller copy of Bora Bora, but without luxury overwater bungalows. Beaches are good enough, but not very comfortable, - that is quite typical for all coral atolls. In fact, it is a great place with a low key atmosphere. In Maupiti, there are many guesthouses with rooms' rates starting from US$50 per night. You'll have to search the Internet for contacts of the owners, and make the booking online via e-mail.

Keep in mind, that all locals are completely relaxed. So sometimes unpleasant collisions are possible. For example, your reservation may be lost, and you'll have no idea where you should stay. However, all these problems are usually solved once you get to the island. So you should not give up on vacation in this beautiful place despite all of these difficulties.

How to get there [edit]

Fly to the airport of Bora Bora (BOB), next fly to Maupiti airport (MAU).

There are also direct flights from Tahiti island and even from Raiatea island. Once you are in Maupiti, free boat of Air Tahiti will deliver you to the main island of the atoll. Please also note, that many hotels provide for their guests free transfer from the airport.

The best time for a holiday in the island of Maupiti is a dry season from April to September.
