Lhaviyani is a relatively remote northern atoll in the Maldives. In general, the
beaches are very good, but it is worth to mention one important detail. Unlike most other atolls, all the local islands are with very bad beaches. On the other hand, absolutely all island-resorts are with excellent beaches. So you should clearly understand, what is the right choice :) Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Almost all Lhaviyani hotels have an excellent value for money, and are rather cheap by the Maldivian standards. Rooms' fares on the local islands start from as low as US$45 per night (plus taxes 23%, plus US$3 fee per person per night).
Accommodation on private islands is about US$300-600 per night per room, which in most cases is much cheaper comparing with similar properties located on the central atolls.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Maldives international airport (MLE). The only transportation option to the resort islands are seaplanes (flight takes 35-45 minutes per way, round trip fares are US$360-700 per person, discounts for children, free for infants).
The local islands can only be reached by public speedboats, while basic ferry service is not available. The one way ticket is US$35-50 per person, and the journey takes 2.5-3 hours.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday on the islands of Lhaviyani atoll is a dry cool season in the winter half of the year.
