Langkawi is the most popular island in Malaysia. The tourist infrastructure is well developed, and there are few relatively good
beaches. However, you should clearly understand, that many of the neighboring Thailand' islands are much better and cheaper. Shore and seabed: sand.
[edit]
Hotels [edit]
The island has an excellent choice of hotels. Average prices are quite high by the standards of Southeast Asia. But you can always find inexpensive accommodation options.
We don't recommend hotels inside the island, as the island is large and even with a rental car it will take a long time to get to the beach.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Langkawi International Airport (LGK).
There is also convenient ferry connection between Langkawi and Satun town in Thailand' mainland. So you can reach the island of Langkawi by the ground from Thailand. Or you may move from Langkawi far to explore the Andaman Islands of Thailand. We recommend the latter option, as Langkawi won't impress you after Thailand.
When to go [edit]
The best time to travel to the island of Langkawi is a dry season from January to April.

Useful information [edit]
Langkawi is famous for the cheapest duty free in the world. However, it's not enough to choose this place as your holiday destination. And that duty free shop won't save you anyway, as the Langkawi is quite expensive in general.
