Hormuz is a small Iranian island in the Strait of Hormuz. This is not the best place for a beach holiday, though you can swim almost everywhere. Most of the coast is absolutely wild, so bikini is not a problem (just watch around). But the main attractions are the Portuguese fort, the red coastal sands, the valley of colored hills, but not limited to the listed. There is also good fishing on the island. Shore and seabed: stones, sand.

Hotels [edit]
There is one official hotel on Hormuz island, as well as several family run guesthouses. It is hard to book online, but it's not a problem. It will be quite Ok, if you ask your hotel to make a phone reservation the day before you arrive to the island.
A wild camping is also possible on the island. It is not prohibited in most cases, while the crime is not common here. If you have a local guide, the best is to ask about it.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Tehran international airport (IKA). Next get by bus to the coastal town of
Bandar Abbas - to
Shahid Haqani port, and take a ferry to Hormus island (ticket about US$2).
It is possible to roam around the island by mototaxi or even just walk on your own. All distances are small, so if you have enough water, you can walk anywhere without problems.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday on Hormuz island are spring and autumn. As for the summer, it is too hot, while the sea water is pretty cold in winter.
