Haa Alifu is the northernmost atoll in Maldives.
The beaches are quite like everywhere else in the Maldives - being very good, but still not the best by the Maldivian standards. There is a great choice of good local islands. But there are also some interesting private island resorts. Since it is a long way to get from Male by domestic flight, there are just a few people if compared with the central atolls. While prices are slightly cheaper. However, there's nothing outstanding here at all. So hotel discounts are the only good reason to visit this atoll. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
Guesthouses on the local islands start from US$70 per night. And these are quite the same as those on the central atolls, while average price tag is exactly the same.
Much more interesting options can be found, if you search for luxury 5-star resorts. There are occasional offers for unique options - for about US $500 per night. Unfortunately, upscale hotels charge upscale price tag for domestic flights. So it makes no sense to visit it for a short stay.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Maldives international airport (MLE). Next make a domestic flight to
Hoarafushi Airport (HRF) or fly to
Hanimaadhoo airport (HAQ). Next get by boat provided by your hotel. Round transfer from Male and back start from US$250 per person (discounted fares are available for children). Please note, that private resorts always give more upscale price for domestic transfer (from US$600 for the return transfer).
