Ambrym is an island representing the main features of Vanuatu - volcanoes and wild tribes. There are some of the most active volcanoes in Oceania. As for the aborigines, they are strongly focused on tourists. But still these are quite an authentic nationalities. By the way, three different languages are spoken on the island with a maximum of 1000 native speakers in the world. As for the beaches, there are just some natural pools in the rocks. There are no hotels on the island, so tourists stay in traditional aboriginal huts, - however, with modern amenities. All these accommodation options are poorly presented on the Internet.
How to get there [edit]
Fly to
Port Vila international airport (VLI), then fly to
Espiritu Santo airport (SON), and finally fly to
Ambrym airport (CCV) or fly to
Ulei airport (ULB) (the island has two airports).
Jeeps are used to move around the island of Ambrym. Sightseeing tours are popular as well, or travel by boat along the coast.
