Alifu Alifu is a group of islands to the west off Male - the capital of Maldives. There are no many good luxury resorts, but some local islands have excellent
beaches, - with the most interesting being
Thoddoo,
Feridhoo and
Ukulhas. Shore and seabed: sand.

Hotels [edit]
On Alifu Alifu Atoll,
Constance Halaveli is the only island resort with the perfect beach. All other private islands are rather mediocre, and worth a visit only if you are on a limited budget.
As for the inhabited islands, the choice of hotels is excellent, while the price and service are quite usual by the standards of the local Maldives. Room's rates with all fees and taxes are about US$100 per night. Accomodations are in a good condition, and the guests' owners do their best to make tourists happy.
We recommend an island hopping, as there is a cheap ferry connection everywhere. If possible, you should not visit the nearest islands only.
It's a long way to the remoted islands, but there are just a few tourists there. For example,
Himandhoo island has one hotel only with three rooms.
How to get there [edit]
Upscale hotels offer seaplane transfer. Typically, flight time is half an hour per way, and the cost for the round-trip is US$500 per adult, US$250 per child from 2 to 11 years old, infants travel for free.
As for the the local islands, these are mainly visited by budget travelers, so the best is to take cheap state
MTCC ferries. The cost of travel is just a few dollars per way (paid in local currency). Ferry
number 304 takes you from Male to the atoll, while a more distant islands can be reached by ferries
# 303 and
# 305.
Every island can also be reached by a speedboat. It will be much cheaper than the seaplane, while travel time will be faster than the ferry. Schedule and ticket price for the speedboat should be checked with the hotel, where you plan to stay.
When to go [edit]
The best time for a beach holiday in the Maldive islands is a dry season from January to April.
