Addu Seenu atoll
Ultimate guide (November 2024)
Addu Seenu is an atoll in the very south of Maldives. It is the only Maldivian atoll located in the southern hemisphere. Most of its
beaches are rather mediocre. While resort beaches are somewhat acceptable, local islands are very bad. There is a typical Maldivian landscape ashore - with palms and white sand. But the swimming is very uncomfortable almost everywhere - due to the rocky bottom. There is still a reason to stay at resorts, since these are relatively cheap by the Maldivian standards. As for the local islands, it is possible to find much better islands with the same price tag of guesthouses. Shore and seabed: sand, stones.

Hotels [edit]
In Addu Seenu atoll, rooms' on the local islands starts from US$60 per night, - and from US$200 at the resorts. Probably, the best strategy for visiting this atoll is to come first to a local island, and next take a few days stay at the resort island. The reason is that domestic transfer Male-Addu-Male is usually cheaper if ordered from guesthouse, - unlike booking domestic transfer via upscale resort. So you'll also have an opportunity to watch the local life.
